6th Grade Holiday Boutique
Please come and support the 6th graders who will be selling their crafts and food/drink items to raise money for the annual Catalina Field Trip. The boutique will take place near the amphitheater on Dec. 12 & 14 after school. Your support helps offset the cost of this traditional Blue Forum experience. Any support you can provide by purchasing their homemade crafts and goodies would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Governing Board Parent Representative Candidate Letters:
Thank you for considering me as a candidate for the Parent Representative position with the Bellevue Santa Fe Governing Board. We are a family with deep roots at Bellevue, and I would be honored to serve the school. Our youngest son, Tru Dang, is a White Forum fourth grader, and our eldest, Thien Ly Dang, is in Blue Forum. I am a dedicated educator with a PhD. in American History and twenty years of teaching experience. Presently, I work as a full time professor at Los Angeles Valley College, but I have also taught at the middle and high school levels. I believe our family’s dedication to Bellevue, our commitment to education, and my broad expertise, which includes working with a wide diversity of students in a variety of educational environments, could be of value to our school. My hope is to have a positive impact on the Bellevue community and to help the school move forward during this exciting time.
My name is Rob Rijnen and I am the father of Hannes (6) and Mabel (3). I am a certified elementary school teacher in the Netherlands and Finland, where I taught for 15 years. As a teacher, my main concern has always been “How do the kids benefit from this?” This reminder of our education system’s purpose came from my imaginings of the first schools in history, established to prepare children for the reality of what was to come. Which, of course, is still the main objective of any school. How do we give our children a chance to become independent, critical thinking contributors to society? Although I have for the past five years run my own photography business in real estate and architecture, I am at my core a teacher. I care deeply about education and want to have a voice in the environment in which my children are growing up. I was lucky enough to work in one of the best education systems in the world and I would be honored to contribute my passion for education, outside perspective, and open mind to our governing board.
The Special Election for Parent Representative on the Governing Board will be held Tuesday, December 12, 2017. Polls will be open 8:00-9:00 and 3:00-4:00 in front of the school. All BSFCS families receive one vote and are encouraged to exercise their right to participate in this selection process.
Holiday Cards for Kathy
There is a holiday card collection envelope in the office for our beloved Kathy Foster. Anyone and everyone is welcome to drop a card in there for Kathy. Someone will be hand delivering them to her over the Holidays. Thank you!
