ABOUT THE TEACHER

I’ve been working with kids for over 30 years.  As a teenager, I started with Parks and Recreation programs running summer camps and playgrounds.  I also taught a variety of classes, including preschool, and eventually licensed and directed a community school.  I have an AA Degree in Recreation, Home Economics, and Early Childhood Education.  I have been married to my husband Mark for 25 years, and we have two children…Sarah, 23 and Eric, 21.  As my kids moved into elementary school, so did I.  I continued my education, and received my BA Degree in Human Development and a California multiple subject teaching credential at Pacific Oaks College in Pasadena.  I have taught in Kindergarten (and other grades) in schools that support differentiated curriculum, as these are the kinds of programs I sought for myself and my own children.  I have also been a coach and scout leader, taught in a district home school program (where I also home schooled my own kids), and was principal of a private school for preschool through 6th grade.  I have a Master’s Degree in Developmental Education and just prior to my coming to BSFCS, I finished writing a book on personalizing curriculum for elementary education.  I’m very happy to be here and love what I do. Each year, each day and each kid, brings a new experience and insight into my life.
