We believe optimum school development occurs when teachers create environments in which children and their families feel welcomed, loved, and accepted and where the children's approaches to materials, ideas, and people are respected. Our kindergarten program strives to provide an environment in which kids thrive and feel safe. Play is an important vehicle for the social, emotional, and cognitive development of children, and I strive to create enjoyable and meaningful activities in the classroom. I plan and support projects that help "kinders" see themselves as important, competent and productive members of society, and our classroom. Students are personally involved in what they do every day and we work hard to develop a sense of community. Our program also encourages children to make choices and reflect on their experiences so they can continuously deepen their knowledge and understanding.
