LANGUAGE ARTS
- Children have continuous opportunity to develop oral communication skills
in listening and speaking in both meetings and daily interactions.
- Students listen, explore and respond to quality literature and identify with
characters, themes, plots, and settings.
- In class, we explore the basic facts and ideas in what we've read, heard,
experienced, or viewed.
- Kids learn about letters, words, and sounds, and then begin to apply this
knowledge to read and write.
MATH
- Children estimate, sort, and classify objects, as well as use mathematical
problem solving strategies.
- Through a variety of activities, we count, recognize, represent, name, and explore the relationship
between numbers and quantities.
- Kids observe, collect and record information using written numbers,
graphs, measurements, etc.
- As the year progresses, students experience concepts in simple addition, subtraction, geometry,
place value, time and money.
SCIENCE/SOCIAL STUDIES
- Daily reading, writing, math, art and discovery experiences are often based on Science and
Social Studies concepts.
- These "Life" themes are integrated throughout our curriculum with specific
focus at certain times of the year.
- Our science program also includes our hands-on Science Teacher, Ag-Grow
garden program and SciTechatorium museum.
- Knowledge is enhanced through oral sharing, books, hands-on projects,
field trips and several special events.
ART AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION
- Visual Art is something that is focused on as an important part
of our curriculum through daily creative and "process-oriented" projects.
- Performing Arts includes our changing dramatic play area, as well as
various performances we see or take part in.

class activities and with our Physical Education program specialist.
