Blue Forum Homework Schedule

Back to Blue Forum

My belief about homework is it is meant to instill a sense of responsibility in students.  It provides an opportunity for students to plan and organize their time accordingly and meet the expected requirements.

Homework in Blue Forum is sent home in a packet each Monday.  It should take about 30 minutes each night.  Students have the entire week to complete the work and have it ready to turn in Friday morning.  The packet is generally the same week to week, though there may be additions of special projects.

The following is a list of the activities that are in a homework packet:

There are times during the school year when special writing projects (book reports, for example), science or social studies activities will be added to the homework schedule.  These longer projects are usually given 2-3 weeks for completion.

Students are also required to do two special writing projects twice a month or so.  These are the "Hero Report" and a "Mystery Bag" Report.  For the Hero Report, students choose a person of character who they feel is a hero.  They do research, as needed, and defend their reasons for choosing the person as their hero.  The Mystery Bag is a "Twenty Questions" type of game in which students bring a science or social studies related item to class in a bag.  The others have 20 questions to try and guess what the object is.  After the questioning, the presenter reveals the object and then reads the paper they wrote about it.
