A Letter from the Principal
Welcome to the Bellevue-Santa Fe Charter School website. For the past thirty-three years I have dedicated myself to the education and well-being of young people, the last fifteen as the administrator of Bellevue-Santa Fe Charter School. There are many reasons that I have chosen to work here at Bellevue, chief among them is the close, personal relationship I have with the students. I spend as much of my time as I can helping them in the classroom or playing with them on the playground. Helping young people learn, develop and progress is my passion and life’s work.
Our school’s motto is “What we learn with pleasure, we never forget.” This phrase highlights one of the most important, and often neglected, aspects of education— motivation. I believe that when students are truly interested in the lesson or subject being taught, they are more apt to learn and retain the information. As a school we strive to make learning fun through experiential, creative, often self-directed learning experiences. We teach the California Common Core Content Standards through meaningful projects and by differentiated instruction.
This is a challenging endeavor. Thankfully, we have a talented group of caring educators teaching at our school, each with many years of teaching experience and education. Further, they are dedicated to Bellevue’s philosophies and style of education. Our teachers are encouraged to use the instructional methods and materials they think would be most effective and they work hard to customize their instructional program around the needs of the students in their class. We are blessed to have such a talented faculty and staff.
Another cornerstone of Bellevue-Santa Fe is our emphasis on family involvement and participation. Our overarching philosophy that parents are an integral part of a successful school is yet another reason that I enjoy working here so much, and it is something that I believe is of great importance to our past and future success. As principal, I actively invite and encourage parents to contribute their time, talents and resources to the building of the very best school for their children. My experience has taught me that when children see their parents helping at school it sends a clear message about the importance of education.
The hard work and dedication of the Bellevue community has made our little charter school a big success. In 2008 and 2014, we were chosen as a Distinguished School by the State of California.
I hope that as you explore the information on this site you will get an idea of what a truly amazing school we have here at Bellevue-Santa Fe. I am very proud of our school, the students, parents and staff that make it such a special place.
